FAITH OVER FEAR
04-04-22
The axiom of ‘faith over fear’ challenges one to disregard fear, in the confidence that God is in control of every situation.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” – Hebrews 11:1
There is an intangible nature to faith, whereby it is not something that can be seen or heard but can be described as full reliance on God.
To the lower chest of the garment is a depiction by Briton Rivière, illustrating the biblical passage of Daniel in the Lion’s den, produced in 1872.
The Atonement team have further curated the piece, by emphasising the dark undertones to signify both the natural and spiritual darkness surrounding Daniel.
Although Daniel was sentenced to death, God protected and sustained him because of his faith. God was not concerned with man's laws but saved Daniel because Daniel obeyed God's law and was faithful to him.
In focus of the design process, the prophets hands are restrained by rope and though the remains of those previously devoured, lay all around Daniel, the beasts could not come near him.
This graphic is a reference to faith over fear; thus no longer looking with natural eyes but with spiritual eyes. Trusting that we take refuge in the shadow of his wings; arming ourselves with the shield of faith to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:16). Encouraging one to no longer succumb to fear but to be strengthened by faith.
This piece should remind us that even when it feels that enemies surround us and we are in the darkest tribulations of our life, God never leaves us, his angels surround us and protect us.
Therefore, faith is believing that God is our refuge and our strength and if God is for us, who can be against us. Faith is not seeing the realm of the unseen but believing that God is Jehovah Raah – the Lord our Shepherd.
