Sustainability Promise

Genesis 2:15 - Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

Atonement believes it is within their ethos and duty to be an eco-friendly organisation whereby they reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible.

Here are 5 ways in which Atonement works towards sustainability:

1. Production Processes

The entire manufacturing process is conducted in the UK in an aim to reduce Atonement’s carbon footprint, from the initial knitting of fabric to the final packaging of garments. Furthermore, the garments are made from organic cotton with the majority of the garments being 100% cotton. This makes the product not only biodegradable but also recyclable.

2. Slow-Fashion Movement

Atonement focuses heavily on high quality fabrics in an attempt to combat fast fashion and focus on long  lasting, perennial pieces for its consumers wardrobe. The team aims to provide luxury garments that reflect the “slow-fashion movement” whereby pieces are bought for wardrobe staples and not frivolous trends.

3. Reducing plastic & packaging waste

Garments are packaged in eco-friendly postage boxes and placed in CPE bags, which we have been ensured are environmentally friendly, however aim to eventually eliminate plastic completely. In addition to this, the tape used for the boxes is also recyclable and eco friendly. Our future goal is to make our entire packaging process 100% recyclable.

4. Ethical Production

Atonement works with factories across the UK that have ethical working conditions that are fair and respectable. These factories care about their workers and production conditions have been checked and approved by the Atonement team.

5. Future Goals

Sustainability is a crucial part of the clothing industry and everyone involved must play their part to decreases the fashion industries carbon footprint. Atonement as an organisation aims to pay attention to all the steps of the production chain to improve sustainability and work towards an eco-friendly organisation.
